A Key Ally for Biodiversity Conservation
The fight against climate change and biodiversity loss requires large-scale electrification with minimal environmental impact. Nuclear power stands out as an efficient, low-emission energy source that minimizes land use, pollution, and ecosystem disruption—key drivers of biodiversity loss.
Despite its advantages, nuclear energy has long been sidelined in energy policy. However, with growing international support—including the EU’s recognition of nuclear in its green taxonomy—momentum is shifting. Expanding nuclear energy in both developed and developing nations can strengthen global biodiversity efforts while ensuring equitable access to clean energy.
A Coalition of the Willing is proposed to align nuclear energy with international biodiversity and climate initiatives (CBD & UNFCCC). It’s time to recognize nuclear power as a crucial part of a sustainable future.
