Kerntechnik Deutschland e. V. (KernD) was founded in 1959 as DAtF (Deutsches Atomforum e. V.). In 2019, it merged with the Nuclear Fuel Cycle and Nuclear Technology Association (WKK) to form KernD.<\/p>

Its members include organisations from all sectors and fields of application of nuclear technology: manufacturers, suppliers, service providers, universities and research institutes, trade associations, etc.<\/p>

The association sees itself as a competence centre for public and regulatory dialogue in the field of nuclear technology. In terms of content, KernD deals, among other things, with dismantling and disposal, radiation protection, the nuclear industry and research location, especially with regard to reactor safety research, transport and nuclear technology in everyday life.<\/p>

The supreme body of KernD is the General Meeting. The General Assembly elects the Executive Board. The Executive Board consists of the Chairperson, the two Deputy Chairpersons, the Treasurer and a maximum of five other members of the Executive Board.<\/p>

INFORUM Verlags- und Verwaltungsgesellschaft mbH is active in the field of professional development with its seminar programme Communication and Training for Nuclear Technology and organises KERNTECHNIK, the specialist conference for the nuclear industry in Germany, one of the world's most renowned events with experts from Germany and abroad as well as an accompanying international industry exhibition, for KernD (Kerntechnik Deutschland e. V.) and KTG (Kerntechnische Gesellschaft e. V.).<\/p>

INFORUM also publishes the atw - International Journal for Nuclear Power and issues publications, particularly on the subject of nuclear technology and nuclear energy.<\/p>

INFORUM was founded in 1987 and is a wholly owned subsidiary of KernD (formerly DAtF).<\/p>

The specialised work of\u00a0<\/span>Nuclear Technology Germany e. V. (KernD)<\/strong>\u00a0<\/span>largely takes place in the following specialised committees. These are in close contact with both governmental and non-governmental organisations as well as other industry associations.<\/p>

System security<\/strong><\/p>

The standard working topics of the expert committee are: Protection against sabotage and other external influences, access control, security systems and detectors, perpetrator scenarios, internal perpetrator issues, transport security, training and further training of OSD personnel, reliability checks, IT protection and sub-legal property protection regulations.<\/p>

Public and international law<\/strong><\/p>

The Technical Committee has the task of monitoring legislation, case law and administrative practice at a national and international level and contributing industry positions to the discussions by issuing statements in the context of association hearings. In addition, the Technical Committee deals with issues of international law and international relations, in particular export law and export controls in general, EU nuclear energy policy and the development of the EC Dual Use Regulation in particular, as well as non-proliferation policy, EU nuclear co-operation agreements and the IAEA nuclear conventions and, last but not least, uranium market developments<\/p>

Nuclear Safety Officer<\/strong><\/p>

The technical committee serves the exchange of experience of nuclear safety officers with the following tasks: The evaluation of reportable and other events in their own plant, to participate in the development of resulting remedial and improvement measures, to immediately inform the operator of findings on safety deficiencies and suggestions for their elimination and for increasing safety. They must also co-operate in the planning of changes to the installation or its operation and check the reporting of notifiable events.<\/p>

Nuclear transports<\/strong><\/p>

The Technical Committee deals with all issues that are or may become relevant in connection with the transport of radioactive materials. This begins with legislation and standardisation, authorisation and supervision and ends with practical problems of implementation, i.e. shipping, transport, handling, storage and reception in a national, international and multinational context.<\/p>

Public relations<\/strong><\/p>

The main purpose of the expert committee is to exchange experiences on public relations issues at the individual locations of the association's member companies. Furthermore, the Technical Committee is also dedicated to all cross-company communication issues. The association's public relations work on individual topics relating to nuclear energy and nuclear technology is organised in close cooperation with the member companies. Position papers, trade fairs, events and web content are also the subject of the specialised committee's work.\u00a0<\/p>

Radioactive waste<\/strong><\/p>

The Technical Committee is dedicated to all technical and legal issues that are or may become relevant in the context of waste management, i.e. waste management, decommissioning and final disposal. This begins with legislation and standardisation, continues with licensing and supervision and ends with practical problems of implementation in a national and international context.<\/p>

Slit material monitoring<\/strong><\/p>

Implementation of the IAEA Additional Protocol, the EU Safeguards Regulation, special safeguard topics, verification aspects, developments in the safeguards concept, ESARDA and IAEA support programmes are among the main areas of work of this technical committee.<\/p>

Radiation protection<\/strong><\/p>

Die Forschungs-Neutronenquelle Heinz Maier-Leibnitz (FRM II) ist ein wissenschaftliches Zentralinstitut der Technischen Universit\u00e4t M\u00fcnchen (TUM) auf dem Forschungscampus Garching. Sie liefert Neutronen f\u00fcr Wissenschaft, Industrie und Medizin. Finanziert wird sie vom Bayerischen Staatsministerium f\u00fcr Wissenschaft und Kunst (StMWK). Die Forschung am FRM II wird zus\u00e4tzlich gef\u00f6rdert durch das Bundesministerium f\u00fcr Bildung und Forschung (BMBF).<\/p>

Forschende weltweit k\u00f6nnen die Neutronen nutzen. Dies stellt eine Kooperation, das Heinz Maier-Leibnitz Zentrum (MLZ), zwischen TUM, Forschungszentrum J\u00fclich und Helmholtz-Zentrum Hereon unter Mitwirkung der Max Planck Gesellschaft und neun weiteren Universit\u00e4tsgruppen sicher. Als Serviceeinrichtung f\u00fcr Gastforschende verf\u00fcgt das MLZ \u00fcber 27 wissenschaftliche Instrumente zur Messung mit Neutronen und Positronen. Die Gastforschenden bewerben sich um Messzeit. J\u00e4hrlich nutzen bis zu 1200 Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftler die Neutronen f\u00fcr ihre Experimente. We have developed state-of-the-art software solutions for the optimal assessment of conditions in the nuclear environment. Our condition monitoring systems help to prevent machine damage and ensure the operation of the system. Machine availability is increased through vibration analysis and diagnostics.
